Prosecutors are filing formal charges against the 21-year-old man accused of killing three Girl Scouts and a mother, in a crash, in western Wisconsin.
Colten Treu is facing 11 counts, including four charges each of homicide by drugged driving, and hit-and-run causing death. He’s accused of “huffing,” or inhaling chemical vapors, before last Saturday’s crash in Lake Hallie, north of Eau Claire.
Prosecutors say a passenger told police he grabbed the steering wheel because Treu “looked out of it.”
Nine-year-old Jayna Kelley and 10-year-old Autum Helgeson were killed, along with 10-year-old Haylee Hickle and her 32-year-old mother, Sara Jo Schneider.
