More people in the Fox Valley are packing on the pounds.
The Weight of the Fox Valley found the adult obesity rate rose to 44 percent. The group says unless something changes, at least half of adults will be considered obese by 2025.
Appleton Public Health Officer Kurt Eggebrecht says they’re most concerned about two age groups. He says something’s happening to children between the age groups of six to nine, and 10 to 13.
He says the other is the large category of adults between 18 and 44. Eggebrecht says at that age, many are starting families. He says they could be dealing with work stress, less time for exercise, and dietary changes.
Eggebrecht says they’re going to look at those two groups closely to see what can be done.
