The top Republican in the state’s Senate says there still aren’t enough votes to pass the Kimberly-Clark incentives package.
Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald says about 10 or 11 Republicans support the bill. He says it will need a lot of Democratic support to pass.
It takes 17 votes to pass the bill.
Democratic Senator Dave Hansen of Green Bay says the fact that nearly half of the Republican senators don’t support the bill shows it has problems. He says if Republicans want it to pass they have to work to make a bi-partisan bill that protects workers and taxpayers.
The package is worth about $70 million and would keep the Neenah Cold Spring Facility open.
