Scammers pretending to be from Social Security are targeting people in Wisconsin.
State consumer protection spokesman Jerad Albracht says they’re getting very aggressive. He says they might threaten to make your social security number inactive, or take away benefits.
He says people who get a call like this should simply hang up. Albracht says for benefit questions or concerns it’s best to call a verifiable social security phone number.
