Sheriff’s officials in Fond du Lac County are worried about nearly 17 shotguns, rifles and handguns stolen from homes in the past two months.
Detective Lieutenant Cameron McGee believes burglars targeted the guns because in most cases cash and jewelry were left behind.
Many of the burglaries happened during the day and the latest two occurred last week in Eldorado and Friendship in the western part of the county.
McGee says in all of the cases homes were left unlocked.
He says they haven’t recovered any evidence from the burglaries and don’t have any suspects or leads.
