Appleton police say a number of local businesses received bomb threats this afternoon through email.
They say the emails are very similar in nature and demand bitcoin from the companies. Bitcoin is a cryptocurrancy.
Officers say businesses around the country have gotten similar threats. They say they’re working with other local law enforcement agencies to investigate the scams.
