A Republican lawmaker from Appleton wants all states to agree to not offer any incentives to businesses.
Senate President Roger Roth is making that suggestion, after fighting to keep Kimberly-Clark’s Cold Spring plant open in Fox Crossing. The state is giving the company $28 million. A plant in Arkansas will be closing instead, and officials in that state also had incentives on the table.
Roth says they should put together a nationwide compact on incentives. He says he’s tired of other places trying to poach Wisconsin businesses.
Roth was a guest on Fresh Take with Josh Dukelow on WHBY this morning.
