Work is ongoing through the winter months on Jones Park in downtown Appleton.
Parks Director Dean Gazza says they hope to open sometime in the late summer and that will depend on how the grass grows. He says they seeded the park in the fall and hopefully it will come in quickly in the spring.
Gazza says they got behind on putting in sidewalks. He says they had about 30 days of rain, and then it got too cold to pour concrete. He says some of the tasks will wait until spring, like putting in park benches and light fixtures.
During the winter, Gazza says crews will continue working on the performance stage.
Jones Park has been closed since the fall of 2016 when construction started on the Fox Cities Exhibition Center.
