There’s a proposal to add e-cigarettes to Appleton’s workplace smoking ban, and the author is calling it a proactive move.
Ald. Cathy Spears says it’s about protecting the public from any chemicals that are a part of vaping. She says when people use an e-cigarette, they’re surrounded by a cloud that includes chemicals. She says that cloud also impacts people nearby.
Appleton’s smoking ban was first put in place in 2005, and it covers bars, restaurants, and other businesses. The state followed suit with its law in 2010.
The city’s Board of Health is expected to take up the proposal next month.
