Plenty of people will be trying to return or exchange Christmas presents today….and a state agency has some tips.
Consumer protection director Michelle Reinen says they should have gift receipts, and look for the best way to return something. She says that’s especially the case, if the gift-giver got it online. She says if there’s a brick-and-mortar store nearby, they might have the option of taking it there.
Reinen says if you’re sending something back, you should find out if you’ll be responsible for the shipping costs.
She says if people are having trouble returning a gift, or they think they’re being scammed, they should call the state consumer protection agency’s hotline at 800-422-7128.
