A nonprofit from the New London area is taking over another therapy horse operation.
Rawhide agreed to the move, after Free Spirit Riders in Fond du Lac closed because of financial challenges.
Laura Schwartzburg was the executive director of Free Spirit Riders. She says over the past year, they helped more than 50 children with physical and mental disabilities. She says Rawhide will focus on at-risk youth at the Fond du Lac location instead.
Schwartzburg says riders came from the region, including Winnebago County and the Beaver Dam area. She says Free Spirit Riders is planing an open house next month to connect former clients with other services.
Rawhide also took over for CHAPS, in the Shiocton area, earlier this year.
