Brown County Sheriff’s officials say charges will not be filed against the man who left a suitcase in the middle of Veteran’s Memorial near the Brown County Arena in Ashwaubenon yesterday afternoon.
A deputy patrolling the area before the Green Bay Gamblers game found the suspicious piece of luggage.
Lieutenant Jason McAuly says they contacted the man whose name was on the suitcase and became more suspicious when he told them he didn’t know why the suitcase would be there.
McAuly says a homeless man came forward and claimed the suitcase but not before the bomb squad was called in and a bomb sniffing dog detected something inside.
McAuly says an x-ray found a shell casing and a magazine for a gun.
McAuly says the shell casing had been turned into a key chain.
