It’s going to cost a little more to park at meters in downtown Appleton.
The city is changing some of the parking rates and they take effect today. The meters in the College Avenue area are going from 75 cents to one dollar an hour. That rate had been the same for eight years. The meters north of Washington Street will rise from 20 cents an hour to 25 cents.
There’s only one change in parking ramps. If people are there for less than three hours they’ll pay two dollars. It used to cost one dollar for less than two hours.
Public Works Director Paula Vandehey has said they need to raise more revenue for future projects. The city’s blue ramp next the City Center is also closed starting today. The city will be tearing down the ramp because of its age.
