Crews are on pace to finish construction on an indoor sports facility in Grand Chute, so teams can start playing there in the fall.
The Fox Cities Champion Center will host tournaments over the winter. It’s expected to draw teams from around the Midwest, and add to the tourism industry.
Matt Ten Haken is with the Fox Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau. He says workers are putting up a lot of the interior walls, and they plan to have the roof in place in the springtime.
The facility will have a hardcourt area and two ice rinks. One of those rinks can be converted into more hardcourts.
The project will cost more than $30 million. Three percent of the hotel room tax will go toward paying for it.
The facility will be near the corner of Greenville Drive and McCarthy Road.
