We’ll know the field for this spring’s state Supreme Court race by the end of the day.
The deadline to file nomination papers is 5 p.m.
State Appeals Court Chief Judge Lisa Neubauer and state appellate Judge Brian Hagedorn are vying to replace retiring Justice Shirley Abrahamson. Neubauer filed all of her paperwork last month, and Hagedorn hadn’t as of this morning.
Justices are officially nonpartisan, but liberal groups are supporting Neubauer, while conservatives are backing Hagedorn.
Abrahamson has been part of the court’s three-member liberally-leaning minority. Conservative-leaning justices control the court by a 4-3 margin.
