Brown County’s new sheriff took office today.
Todd Delain was the chief deputy and he was unopposed in last November’s election. Delain says the community probably won’t notice a big difference right away. He says he wants to continue the same public safety focus the agency has had for years. He says if drastic changes were needed they would have already made them. He says it’s about building on the things they’re doing well.
Delain says that includes things like protecting victims of human trafficking and investigating Internet crimes against children.
Delain took over for retiring sheriff John Gossage. Gossage served as the county’s top cop for eight years and he had been with Brown County for more than 31 years.
