Manitowoc County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a backpack bomb that was found in a ditch Wednesday afternoon.
Someone discovered it along Highway 147 near Highway R in the Town of Gibson and thought drug paraphernalia was inside. The department’s drug unit found an item that looked like a bomb with explosive material.
Investigators think someone tried to detonate it and it might have been thrown from a vehicle.
