Brown County Sheriff’s deputies believe a tow truck driver was trying to prevent accidents when he was hit and killed on I-41.
31-year-old Jesse “Bil” Hettmann of Green Bay was helping a disabled driver near the Oneida Street exit in Ashwaubenon last Friday.
Captain Dan Sandberg says Hettman placed a block of wood under one of the tires so they could change one of the other tires. But Sandberg says the block of wood shot out into the center lane. He says Hettmann was trying to pick it up when he was hit by a car. He says they don’t see any reason why the driver would face criminal charges.
There was a large procession of trucks on I-41 last night to honor Hettmann.
