A marijuana advocate is reacting to Governor Evers’ comments on the drug.
Evers said yesterday he’ll likely include the first steps toward legalization of medical marijuana in his proposed state budget.
Jay Selthofner is with Northern Wisconsin NORML. He says generally medical marijuana doesn’t get taxed. He says recreational marijuana can bring in a lot of money in tax revenue for the state.
Selthofner says it’s encouraging when politicians talk about the issue. He says Evers should also look at decriminalizing marijuana and giving people a ticket if they had a small amount. He says that would eliminate a lot of drug arrests without legalizing it. He says the state would save money by not having to prosecute cases.
