A Democrat from Appleton doesn’t agree with the way Majority Republicans want to pay for a proposed middle class tax cut.
But Rep. Amanda Stuck says she supports the idea of a 10 percent income tax reduction at a cost of about $340 million. She says for far too long, the wealthy have gotten the majority of the tax breaks. She says it’s time to make sure the breaks extend to more middle class families.
Stuck says she backs Governor Evers and his plan to put caps on a tax credit for manufacturing and agriculture. She says they could still help small farmers while scaling back cuts for the some of the wealthiest people in the state.
Republicans want to use money from a budget surplus but Stuck is concerned that could lead to bigger structural deficits.
