Lawrence University in Appleton is having a day of service for Martin Luther King Junior Day.
Kristi Hill is the school’s director of community engagement. She says they have 11 events going on today including a hunger banquet where people can learn about global hunger, and what they can do to fight it. She says staff are also having a teach in to talk about various social justice issues.
Hill says about 150 students will volunteer off-campus at five different non-profits as well. She says the projects were created by Lawrence students.
Lawrence is also hosting the annual celebration of Martin Luther King Junior tonight. It’s at 6:30 p.m. in the Lawrence Memorial Chapel.
