It was a lot busier at Appleton International Airport last year.
Nearly 718,000 people flew in or out, and that record number was 25 percent higher than 2017’s total.
Airport spokesman Patrick Tracey says they were even surprised by the final numbers. He says the national average for passenger growth last year was four percent, and Appleton’s was six times higher.
All four airlines at the airport had more passengers. United had a 61 percent jump, and Tracey says that’s in large part because of a new flight to Denver.
American Airlines nearly tripled its passenger numbers. Tracey says they moved into the airport in the summer of 2017, and now they have three daily flights to Chicago.
