A federal lawmaker is talking about the government shutdown.
Republican Congressman Mike Gallagher of Green Bay was at a town hall meeting in Chilton yesterday. He says he’s talked with President Trump and Democratic colleagues about possible solutions. He says he proposed paying essential employees as a sign of good faith and he hopes that passes this week.
Gallagher says the nearly 800,000 federal employees working without pay should motivate people to work together to end the shutdown. He’s asking to have his pay withheld as well.
