A 55-year-old Fond du Lac man drowned last night after the ATV he was riding fell through the ice on Lake Winnebago.
Fond du Lac County sheriff’s officials say the man was riding in a group with three other people on the west shore of the lake.
A 23-year-old Fond du Lac man and his passenger, a 22-year old Brownsville woman went through the ice as well.
The younger man was able to help the woman get out and stayed in the water to try to help the older man.
Emergency crews helped get both men out of the water.
The 55-year-old man went under the water for a period of time and was unconscious and unresponsive when he was pulled out and was pronounced dead at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.
