Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos is responding to the State of the State speech.
He says GOP lawmakers have a number of priorities, including protecting rights from “unnecessary red flag gun laws.” Vos says they’ll also fight against government-run health care, work to keep spending in check, focus on school choice, and protect the unborn.
Vos says voters want lawmakers to find ways to work together, and Republicans believe there are some “slam dunks.” He says they can expand Internet access, prevent homelessness, and improve foster care.
Vos says they can also fund two-thirds of public school budgets, without raising taxes. He says the state is on a roll, and Republicans aren’t going to allow it to slip backward.
