The former site of the Thompson Community Center in downtown Appleton was sold to an investor.
Records show Jack May of Bay Title in Green Bay bought it. He also owns an office building one block over, on W. College Avenue. It’s not known what May has planned for the site.
City Community Development Director Karen Harkness says the property is in a TIF district, and there’s a lot of potential for it. She says they’d love to see the site redeveloped, as long as the project fits the requirements of the site’s zoning of Central Business District.
The senior center moved to the former St. Bernadette School on Appleton’s east side, in 2016. It’s now known as the Thompson Center on Lourdes.
