An abandoned closed hotel has new life.
The Hotel Northland in Green Bay is open and the first guests are waking up there this morning.
The city’s economic development director believes this is a testament of strength and perseverance. Kevin Vonck says there were a lot of challenges to the hotel’s renovation that included issues with different developers and even council members. He calls the opening an exciting journey for Green Bay.
Renovations at the downtown hotel were ten years in the making and were projected to cost $35 million. Because of delays and other issues that total came in at $50 million.
