Access to health care is one of the top concerns from a survey in three local counties.
Trish Sarvela of the Partnership Community Health Center says it’s been a major priority for years. She says in 2011, nearly 10 percent in the Fox Valley didn’t have health insurance. Last year, that figure for people 18 or over, was less than one percent.
Sarvela believes a shortage in primary care doctors is still a big issue. She says it can sometimes take six months to get a physical through primary care.
The Partnership Community Health Center recently expanded its Oshkosh dental clinic, to offer primary health care three days a week.
The Fox Valley Community Health Improvement Coalition is highlighting six priorities in Winnebago, Outagamie, and Calumet counties.
