Construction could start later this year on a boardwalk over the Fox River connecting Little Chute and Kaukauna.
Little Chute Village Administrator James Fenlon says they’ve raised enough money to pay for the preliminary plans. But stakeholders are going to continue asking for donations to lower the costs for taxpayers from the two communities.
Fenlon says they each pledged to cover up to 10 percent of the project. He says the target is to start construction this year and end in 2020.
The Fox Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau recently provided a $250,000 grant. The boardwalk will connect Little Chute’s Heesakker Park with an old railroad line in Kaukauna.
