In the wake of a murder-suicide in Suamico, a domestic violence advocate says unfortunately, they’re all too common in the state.
Thirty-four-year-old Brooke Fontaine was killed at her parents’ house yesterday. Brown County Sheriff’s deputies say 28-year-old Sebastian Royal of Milwaukee shot her, and turned the gun on himself.
They say there was a dispute…over the custody of their 14-month-old son.
Patti Seger of End Domestic Abuse Wisconsin is urging victims to reach out and get help, through a confidential statewide hotline. She says they can remain anonymous, and get connected with a local group if they want.
Seger says more than 60 domestic abuse victims were killed in Wisconsin last year.
The hotline number is 1-800-799-SAFE (7233).
