An 82-year-old crossing guard is recovering after being hit by the driver of an SUV Friday morning.
Peshtigo police chief Rick Badgley says it happened at a busy intersection with French Road.
The family of Gail Bantes says she pushed two girls to safety before being hit.
The driver, who was given a ticket, told officers glare from the sun prevented her from seeing people in the crosswalk.
Badgley is asking drivers to pay attention through intersections especially with the ice and snow piles.
Bantes is recovering and plans to return to work.
