Appleton fire crews had to use a rope rescue system to rescue the owner of a downtown bar, and two other men, from a sub-basement.
They fell about 25 feet, after a set of stairs gave way at The Durty Leprechaun, around 2 a.m. Friday.
Battalion Chief Ethan Kroll says firefighters didn’t have a ladder that could reach the men, and they were in a very confined space. He says crews ended up using a small, fortified ladder and a rope system.
Kroll says a firefighter went down and helped them get into a harness, so they could be pulled up one at a time. The three men only had minor injuries, and two of them were taken to a hospital.
