There’s a company in place to run the Fox Cities Champion Center and a general manager.
The indoor hard court and ice facility is under construction in Grand Chute.
The Fox Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau is contracting with Sports Facilities Management from Clearwater, Florida. The company hired Ken Weinaug as the general manager. He helped open a community center in Minong in northwest Wisconsin and the Kroc Community Center in Green Bay. He says part of the reason he wanted to be a part of the project was a chance to combine his love of hockey with his job.
Weinaug also spent 21 years on active duty in the Navy. The Champion Center is expected to open later this fall.
