There could be new rules for events that use Appleton’s Houdini Plaza and Jones Park.
City Parks and Recreation Director Dean Gazza says they’re dealing with damage to the grass and staining on the concrete at Houdini Plaza. He says it’s caused by cooking or craft making.
He also wants to ban vehicles, unless there’s a special circumstance or an emergency. Gazza thinks the timing is good because the renovated Jones Park should open later this summer. He says 12-foot trucks and food trucks can cause damage to the grass and create trip hazards for kids playing.
Gazza points out that other urban parks around the country have similar rules.
