Last month was the snowiest February in Appleton history.
The National Weather Service in Green Bay reports 29.4 inches fell in 28 days. That topped the old record of 26.6 in 2008.
Meteorologist Rebecca Hykin says that’s still well below the mark for the snowiest month of all-time in Appleton. That’s 53 inches, set in January of 1929.
In Green Bay, it’s been almost 130 years the city got so much snow in February. The total of 28.4 inches ranks second for the month. The record is 30.2 inches in 1890.
The National Weather Service is working on the February numbers for Oshkosh.
