A doctor on the forefront of research on traumatic brain injuries in athletes and military veterans is in the Fox Valley today.
Dr. Ann McKee is from Appleton. She’s the director of the CTE Center at Boston University, and director of Neuropathology at the VA in Boston. She spoke at this afternoon’s Women’s Fund luncheon in downtown Appleton.
McKee says women have played a big part in the battle to understand brain injuries. She says they’re speaking up, because they see the effects that things like CTE have on their loved ones.
McKee was featured in the Frontline Documentary “League of Denial” for her work on CTE, and she’s taken part in briefings with the NFL.
The Women’s Fund luncheon supports programs that address the needs of local women and girls.
