Appleton street crews will have to cut back on salting for the rest of the winter.
City spokesman Chad Doran says they’re dealing with a shortage. He says they’ll only be able to focus on busier streets, hills, and bridges. Regular residential streets won’t be salted anymore.
Doran says they have some supplies left in the public works department’s salt shed.
He says the city has only received about 60 percent of its salt order from its supplier, Morton Salt. The city partners with the state and other communities to buy salt in bulk, at a discount.
