If the federal government drops protections for gray wolves the state would hold a wolf hunting season again.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is going to propose removing the animal from the endangered species list.
Former Governor Scott Walker signed a law in 2012 requiring the DNR to hold a wolf hunt. There were three of them before a federal judge protected wolves again in 2014.
