Today marks the 13th anniversary of the deaths of two Winnebago County highway workers near Oshkosh, on what was Highway 41.
Marc Neumeyer and Dan Melhorn were hit by a car.
Highway Commissioner Ray Palonen says traffic numbers are up since then, and the speed limit is too.
He says safety is always on the top of their mind and they follow DOT guidelines for closing lanes, and setting up trucks to help protect the workers.
Palonen says the DOT also doesn’t let workers be out on highways during peak traffic times.
