A local doctor says it’s difficult to catch pancreatic cancer early on.
Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek announced his stage-four diagnosis of the disease this week.
Doctor Xin Yao works at ThedaCare’s Regional Cancer Center. He says most patients don’t show symptoms until stage four. He says only about 20-to-30 percent of cases are caught early on.
Yao says the symptoms are fatigue, weight loss and a decreased appetite. He says those are common for a lot of diseases so it’s hard to diagnose.
