Governor Evers is ordering the replacement of derogatory or offensive terms from state administrative code.
His move essentially does the same thing some Republicans were trying to do with a stand-alone bill.
Evers wants to change the term “mental retardation” to “intellectual disability.” He also calls for replacing “handicapped” with “disabled.”
