Some have raised concerns about the traffic impact of some proposed developments in downtown Appleton.
Traffic Engineer Eric Lom says they just took an in-depth look at that. He says that the study shows even with the additional development they would be able to handle downtown traffic, even during peak hours.
The city eventually plans to convert Lawrence Street into a two-way street. There could be four-way stops at Morrison and Oneida streets. There are some major projects in that area including a proposed new library in a mixed-use development.
U.S. Venture wants to move its headquarters to part of what’s called the “bluff site.” The city council would have to agree to any traffic changes.
