The cat that went missing during the massive I-41 pileup was found dead this morning.
The Winnebago County Sheriff’s department says Bastet’s body was in an area where cars were towed after the crash.
Owner Kevin Graves was on a road trip from California, with his sister, when they were in the chain-reaction crash last month. He delayed his return home, in hopes of finding Bastet.
Graves believes his cat was startled, and ran out the back window of their SUV. He was notified of Bastet’s death, and he’s working with a local veterinary clinic.
