Cases of child abuse and neglect in the Fox Cities area are fluctuating from year to year.
That’s one of the findings in the latest update of the Life Study.
Rachel Podoski of the United Way Fox Cities says the more severe cases, with out-of-home placements, have been going up, especially since 2015.
Overall cases of abuse and neglect were down in Outagamie and Calumet counties between 2013 and 2016. Rates increased in Winnebago County, and the state average was also up.
Tony Gonzalez of the United Way says they’re working with different organizations, in hopes of preventing less serious cases from becoming worse.
Gonzalez and Podoski were guests on Fresh Take with Josh Dukelow on WHBY this morning.
