A group that will look at the Appleton school district’s truancy system is starting its work.
Assistant Superintendent Polly Vanden Boogard is leading a task force. She says they need to look at things like research, best practices, and procedure before they make recommendations.
More than 25 people are part of the group. Vanden Boogard says they include students, parents, and representatives from organizations like the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Fox Valley.
The district shut down its truancy court last year after complaints about how some students were treated.
