Two communities in Calumet County are getting murals.
Artist James Barany is a native of Chilton, and he’ll be painting them in Chilton and Stockbridge.
The one in Chilton will be going on the Mueller Time building on Main Street. Barany says it will feature a scene of the community welcoming soldiers home after World War I.
Barany wants the Stockbridge mural to highlight the community’s Native American history. It will be on a wall of Schumacher’s Shanty.
He’ll start the Chilton project in May, and the Stockbridge mural in August.
A nearly $30,000 grant from the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region will help pay for the projects.
