As Shopko prepares to close all its stores some people are asking if the going out of business sales really offer a good deal.
A third party is overseeing the liquidation of the stores.
Marketing teacher John Maier of Northeast Wisconsin Technical College says companies use profits from those sales to pay off creditors. Some states have laws to protect people but Maier believes that’s tough to fight. He thinks Shopko has a good relationship with the public and will be as honest as possible.
Shopko will close all of its remaining stores by June 16th.
