An Appleton man is making his case for a different way to teach some teenagers.
Author John Wiley wrote a book called “Bottom Half Teens.”
He believes Fox Valley community leaders, schools and businesses should greatly expand apprenticeship programs. Wiley thinks if students don’t plan to go to college, they should be placed on a different track, starting in their sophomore year.
Wiley says every day, they could spend five hours in class, and five hours in an apprenticeship program.
He’s spending his own money to distribute thousands of his books to stakeholders in the community.
