Prosecutors say an Appleton man murdered a father and daughter in Manitowoc to get money.
Thirty-five-year-old Karl Hess is accused of telling police he was going through financial difficulties, and he knew Richard Miller had money in a safe. Hess is facing two counts of first-degree intentional homicide for the deaths of 51-year-old Richard and 19-year-old Jocelyn Miller.
He’s in custody on a $1 million bond.
Prosecutors say Hess admitted shooting Richard two times in the head, in Miller’s Dale Street home on the west side.
They say Hess heard a noise coming from Jocelyn’s bedroom, and saw her hiding under a comforter, crying and saying “no.” They say he fired a shot in the area he thought was her head.
