There are reports the Army wants to scale back its order of the J.L.T.V. from the Oshkosh Corporation, but an executive isn’t concerned.
George Mansfield is a vice president at Oshkosh Defense, and he says they’re halfway through an eight-year contract. He says the deal calls for them to make almost 50,000 trucks, and they’re building more than 4,400 this year.
He adds the Marines are increasing their order by 3,500 this year, for a total of 9,000.
Mansfield doesn’t anticipate any impact on jobs. He says they’re actually going to ramp up production this summer.
The Army reportedly wants to scale back its order of the J.L.T.V by $800 million over a five-year period.
